If you've got a gear experience you want to share, check out PDN's new baby, PDNGearGuide.com and post a user review. We've just recently launched the site and want to hear from photo enthusiasts like you about what you do (or don't) love about your DSLRs, point-and-shoots, tripods, strobes, and more. Log-in (it's FREE!) to share your point of view and possibly help other gear-heads from making a really bad purchase.

Regular deadline: August 21, 2007

Does your love for travel rival your passion for photography?

PDN and National Geographic Traveler have teamed up again for the annual World in Focus contest. All professional and amateur entries should fall into one of the following sub-categories: Wilderness Photography, The Human Condition, Extreme Exploration, Urban Landscapes, Snapshots and Open Series (for photo essays that capture the experience of a place).

Outstanding individuals in the pro category—which includes students—stand to receive portfolios on Photoserve.com in addition to Nikon and National Geographic equipment. Their winning images will also be exhibited at this fall’s PhotoPlus Expo and featured in PDN’s February 2008 issue.

But there’s no cause for envy if you’re an amateur photog. A 10-day trip for two to the Galapagos Islands, among other prizes, doesn’t sound too shabby.
