Apply Online for Barnstorm XXII: Oct 9-12, 2009 in Jeffersonville, New York
Current photography students and emerging professionals take note:
Online applications for the 2009 Eddie Adams Barnstorm XXII Workshop are now
being accepted through May 11.
An intense, tuition-free, four-day gathering of top
photojournalism professionals and 100 carefully selected students, the Eddie
Adams Workshop exists as a forum in which an exchange of ideas, techniques, and
philosophies are shared between established members and newcomers to the
profession of picture journalism.
The 100 workshop attendees are selected based on the merit of portfolios submitted by current students, active members of the military or working photographers with less than three years of professional experience. The chosen students are divided into ten teams of ten members each, led by a photographer, an editor and a researcher, all professionals within the field. During four days over the Columbus Day weekend, everyone’s schedule is packed with a mix of shooting, editing, speeches and panel discussions from before dawn to well past midnight. Students also have the opportunity for one-on-one time with editors to discuss their portfolios at what is known as the 11:30 Club.
Barnstorm is 100 percent digital, giving students and faculty
access to a variety of the best professional equipment available, including
Nikon digital SLR's and the latest Apple computers. During the Workshop,
students have constant interaction with the biggest and brightest minds in
photography today—nowhere else will you find 150 top-notch faculty members for
100 students!
An application consists of a portfolio of up to 20 images, a
personal statement and a $45 application fee. Visit the Workshop Web site today to create an account and to start the application process.
